Liberty

Laurel and Hardy, Hal Roach, released 26 January 1929. Two escaped convicts have put on each other's trousers; they duck into a construction elevator to swap and rise to an unfinished skyscraper. Twenty minutes of dropped pants, a crab in a seat, and a walk along open steel, directed by Leo McCarey. The high work used a real downtown Los Angeles frame, with a platform just out of shot. The gag is not the height. It is that they still cannot get the trousers sorted.
