E.A. Dupont, British International, 1929, scenario by Arnold Bennett. Gilda Gray, the shimmy name, is Mabel, star of a London club whose kitchen help, Shosho (Anna May Wong), is brought upstairs when the house goes cold. Jameson Thomas is the owner who makes the change. Variety wrote that Wong took the picture from Gray. A kiss with a white extra was cut before release. Elstree built the club to look like money. Wong’s dance is the reason the film is still booked. Gray has the billing. Shosho has the camera.
