The Norrtull Gang

Per Lindberg, 1923, from Elin Wägner's novel about women clerks in Stockholm. The Norrtull gang shares rooms and wages: Tora Teje is the one the camera stays with as pay, men, and a sick friend crowd the week. Wägner had already written the office as a political fact. Lindberg, from the theatre, keeps the film in kitchens and the typing pool. SFI circulates it as a gold-age comedy that is also a labor picture. The title is an address, not a joke.
