Dziga Vertov, Goskino, 1924, the first feature-length Kino-Eye. Pioneer children, a market, the GUM store, a camp, a village: the camera is supposed to catch what the eye misses and then cut it into an argument. Mikhail Kaufman shot; Vertov and Elizaveta Svilova shaped it. Gosfilmofond preserves the workprint tradition this title comes from. Less a story than a method announced in public. The kids are the audience Vertov wanted, not the NEP boulevard.
