Directed by Malcolm St. Clair, Buster Keaton
Buster Keaton, 1921: a young man sits on a bench next to a jailbird whose photograph is on the wanted poster behind them, and the rest of the two-reeler is the city deciding he is that man. Directed by Keaton and Malcolm St. Clair. The chase through the streets, the clay model that becomes a likeness, the jump onto a moving train. Already the Keaton grammar: a body that treats physics as a conversation. Virginia Fox is the girl. It is the short in which being looked at is the crime.
