A hunting party at a country house, rain, a guest suspected of killing his brother, and a confession that arrives disguised as a monk. Nothing is supernatural, and the English title lies, but the dream with the claw is Murnau's. A drawing-room picture a year before he put a vampire on a ship. Carl Mayer wrote it from a Rudolf Stratz novel, 1921.
