Directed by D. W. Griffith
A Polish family displaced by the war lives through the inflation in Berlin: a queue for potatoes, a cart of them stolen in a field, a wedding postponed by a price. Griffith shot it in Germany in 1924, and it is his last independent picture and his plainest, and the plainness is the achievement. Carol Dempster, Neil Hamilton.
