This Is My Affair

President McKinley sends a naval lieutenant under cover into a gang of Midwestern bank robbers whose information is too good, and he gets in through a St Paul saloon and its singer. Then McKinley is shot at Buffalo before he can vouch for his agent, and the lieutenant goes to the death house with no one alive who knows. A costume romance with a real historical hole in the middle of it, which is what makes it work.
