The deluge was staged with water released on extras; several were injured, a fact the later literature does not treat as rumor. Curtiz was still new to the studio. The biblical half is DeMille grammar on a Warners lot. The war half is the justification for the ark. A hybrid, already half a talkie, about two disasters sharing a cast.
