Directed by Mack Sennett
Keystone, 1914, Mack Sennett: a dance hall, a hat-check girl, and three men who want her: Chaplin (unshaven, in a frock coat), Ford Sterling, and a young Fatty Arbuckle. Chaplin is not yet the Tramp. He is a musician who fights with a trombone and a rival. Shot in a day, it is the Keystone method as a document: speed, jealousy, a room that exists to be wrecked. Arbuckle's size is already a timing device.
