Feline Follies

The first Felix the Cat cartoon, 1919, from Pat Sullivan's studio, drawn by Otto Messmer: a tomcat serenades, a fight, a litter that the world does not want. Silent, a few minutes. Felix is not yet the walk, the question-mark tail; he is already a line that can think. It is the cartoon that started the most important American silent animation series after Winsor McCay, and the credit fight (Sullivan vs. Messmer) is the other plot.
