Singapore Sue

1932 · US

Directed by Casey Robinson

Cary Grant, 1932, a two-reel Paramount short: four sailors walk into a Singapore dive and meet a Chinese girl from Brooklyn (Anna Chang). Two songs. Grant, not yet Grant, already the profile. It is a musical short about a room that is selling the East, and a girl who is selling Brooklyn. The title is the come-on. The joke is that she is from home.
