Directed by Oscar Micheaux
Micheaux, 1931, an eighteen-minute short shot alongside The Exile. Donald Heywood's choir, then Tim Moore and Andrew Tribble, then Amon Davis doing a comic sermon in blackface. The camera barely moves. Library of Congress materials are what circulate. It is a record of a Black revue for a Black house, including the parts that still make people flinch.
