A Pioneer boy falls asleep over Swift and wakes in Lilliput, where the king's court dines on flattery, the workers run the factories underground, and Gulliver takes the workers' side. Aleksandr Ptushko built the country in stop-motion, with some fifteen hundred puppets and a live boy composited among them, and the boy's hands among the puppet crowds at the court banquet and the uprising are the thing to see. The first feature-length puppet animation with a human lead; the satire is the period's, and the technique was not equalled anywhere for years. Ptushko went on to Sadko and Ilya Muromets. Mosfilm, 1935, seventy-five minutes.
