Beggars of Life

William A. Wellman, Paramount, 1928, from Jim Tully's book. Louise Brooks kills the man who has been using her, puts on boy's clothes, and rides the freights with Richard Arlen. Wallace Beery is the hobo who takes charge of the jungle. Wellman shot a lot of it out of doors. Brooks does the disguise without winking. The film is about how little cover a road gives you.
