The Unholy Three

Tod Browning's 1930 sound remake of his own 1925 silent: Lon Chaney, in his only talkie, as a ventriloquist who disguises himself as a grandmother to fence stolen jewels with a strongman and a little person. MGM. Chaney's voice is the shock: kind, ordinary, then not. The bird store, the doll, the three who are unholy because they work together. He died a month after release. It is a sideshow crime picture that knows the voice is another disguise.
