Jone ovvero gli ultimi giorni di Pompei
1913 · 95 min · IT
Directed by Giovanni Enrico Vidali, Ubaldo Maria Del Colle
Glaucus, Jone, the blind slave girl Nidia, a priest of Isis, the arena, and Vesuvius on cue, with the eruption done in smoke and a tilted camera. Bulwer-Lytton's one idea worth keeping is that the blind girl leads the sighted out through the ash, and the film keeps it. Pasquali of Turin made this in 1913, one of two Italian Pompeiis that year and the less famous. Ninety-five minutes.
