À la conquête du pôle
1912 · 33 min · FR
Directed by Georges Méliès
Rival aeronauts race to the Pole, a giant made of frost eats one of them and coughs him back up, and the airship is a stage set on wires. Méliès took the story from Verne's Captain Hatteras by way of everything else he had ever done, and made it in 1912 with Pathé's money in a style that had not changed since 1902. That is the point, and also why it was the end. Thirty-three minutes. The Snow Giant is the last of his monsters.
