Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, 1925, before King Kong: a documentary of the Bakhtiari migration across the Zagros, thousands of people and animals through a river and a mountain pass. Paramount. Title cards by Terry Ramsaye. It is ethnography as spectacle, and the spectacle is real. A nation moving because the grass is on the other side. The camera is a guest that does not stay. Grass named a genre Cooper would later fill with a gorilla.
